Noob's View : 10 things Ubuntu Can Improve Upon

We'll I dont want here another war with Linux Geeks telling me if I'm right or wrong but these
were few common things that I was really able to find out that Ubuntu lacked
What I want from Ubuntu is that it shouldn't be a geek coice rather it should be a noobs choice

1)Easy Terminologies
We'll this is the the first basic thing
I dont want a simple things to be termed in hard words
If you can't to do anything about it then be sure of next point
Make it simple & you'll se users running Ubuntu more than before

2)Be Informative
Though most informative at installation time, I still feel that at time of usage ,Ubuntu lacks information
Every thing that can be configured must have information as mouse hover tips & help centre
Then we'll see less no of queries regarding configuration problems

3)Simple Installers
  • Make the interface simple and informative (atleast make a better interface)
  • Give choice before installing
  • Then last step should've a simple button of INSTALL

4)Better Accesibility
Ubuntu has come out of ages
Accesiblity has improved so much but I still feel many features can be made more accessible
Let there be GUI & Buttons for every feature that can be configured (Ya every damn feature)(Remember PPPoE )

5)Be Innovative
Ya Ubuntu is the most innovative thing that's created & lets make it more innovative by adding more and more features.
Really we can be much more better...!!!

6)Powerful Updating
Everything installed should've an updating feature
They must be updateble via Ubuntu Updater(Remember OpenOffice)

7)Advanced Repair System
An advanced Repair system that even a noob can handle if Ubuntu goes corrupt
If you can do this at installation time we can expect more at recovery & repair time

8)How about a Download Site
We'll this feaure is that one that really seems to be non available to me
Make a website that's well managed specifically having Ubuntu downloads

9)Easier Networking
The one of the most difficult part in Ubuntu is networking
Just this is the part which I think is ages beyond development
Really I need a good informative method on Home Networking atleast (pro's do Office Networking :P )
Make that Samba & all mess there easy to configure for a noob

10)Improve Improve Improve.........!!!
Regradless of fact whatever we are one shouldn't forget that noone is GoD
There is always a need of improvement & one shouldn't forget this face
Just keep improving in all aspects & we'll see Ubuntu touching new heights

Comments (2)

Not meaning to complain, but those comments are extremely vague. No-one active in any Development is going to be able to do anything useful with those thoughts - 'make something better' isn't something we'd not thought of - it's working out how to.

Give examples.

As for 6 and 8, I don't think that's needed - apt the power behind synaptic package management fetches and updates all applications. If you're installing things not via apt/synaptic you're doing something wrong.

Synaptic never gives enough option like in Windows Management though I know its much more powerful
Also OpenOffice never gets updated .
That was the for point 6
For point 8 I greatly feel a need if Ubuntu needs to sustain :)
