Ok another security post cause what problem I see in most of my friends PC's is due to either spyware or due to virus
Most of my friends ask for cracks
Why pay for something that you can get for free !!!
What's Spyware basically ??
Spyware is computer software that is installed surreptitiously on a personal computer to intercept or take partial control over the user's interaction with the computer, without the user's informed consent.
How's it different from Virus ??
The original virus may modify the copies, or the copies may modify themselves, as occurs in a metamorphic virus. A virus can only spread from one computer to another when its host is taken to the uninfected computer.
Ok Enough of it :) (as always)
Ok there occur 3 cases :
1 ) You tend to get infected
2) You are probably infected
3) You are definitely infected
For CASE 1
You think you get infected easily
Let virus make some efforts
Install some good security firewall & a good antivirus
There are lots of them available on internet so you can get any of the(see links at last)
Yes you're done
For CASE 2
Just first make sure if you are infected
Download HijackThis
Just post (in comments) the log of Hijack This here & I'll analyse it for you :)
If you realize that you got infected just go to STEP 3
If you are clean no need to woory unless you have Antivirus & Antispyware installed
(See links at the end if you don't have one)
For CASE 3
Ok You know that you got infected
1) Just install a Avast or AVG ( I recon Avast)
Click on YES for boot time scan
2) All Virus removed but still infected
Install Spybot-Search & Destroy or Ad-Aware
Update it & scan PC for spyware
To prevent future attacks just install either of these firewall
Zone Alarm (Non Commercial Freeware)
Things To Remember :
Don't Run .exe files unknowingly
Don't visit phishing sites (having abnormal look & may contain porn advertisements etc.)
Don't use cracks (the are generally viruses)
Update your OS regularly
