Torrenting Basics

We'll you must have heard about Torrents
Then what are torrents
Torrents are header files available on internet at various sites like isohunt, thepiratebay etc. which gives the requested address to your torrent client

BASIC TERMINOLOGIES
  • Seeder: Someone having complete part of the file

  • Leecher: Someone downloading the file but don’t have all parts of it

  • P2P: Peer to Peer (A communicating protocol)

  • Bittorrent Client: Software required for decrypting torrent file data & downloading files

  • Tracker: A server that keeps track of which seeds and peers are active & inactive

  • Each client is capable of preparing, requesting, and transmitting any type of computer file over a network, using the protocol of torrent (commonly known as Bittorrent)
To share a file or group of files, a peer first creates a "torrent" file

We won't go into that much detail (details are available at sites like Wikipedia)

    What are pre-requisites?
We'll nothing much but just a torrent client
Get one from here (Just ~300KB)
    Double click & Install

Let me tell you how to download a file via torrent
Since torrents are based on P2P communication they don't require any specific server to provide them with necessary bandwidth

Rather all the user themselves provide a little bit of bandwidth & the shortest route for communication (data or voice etc.)

Just visit any of these sites handling torrents like isohunt.com or thepiratebay.org
Lookout for a torrent having good amount of seeders as we’ll as leechers
It depends upon you whether you download something which is legal or not as torrents are generally famous for providing illegal content without any problem

To download a file you must require at least 1 seeder

After downloading the file just open the file in the Bittorrent Client
Just recheck that you have at least few seeders in the seeder coloumn
    Wait till the download completes
    Enjoy ..!!!
